GARDEN & HERB SOCIETY

The Garden & Herb Society has a long history of offering Beech Mountain Club members a way of connecting by sharing their appreciation for the flora of Beech Mountain. Starting in 2003 as the Herb Society by seventeen members wanting to learn about herbs, the society today provides a rich resource for members interested in knowing more about the plants on the mountain.

Members of the Society, ranging from experienced to novice gardeners, come together for twice monthly meetings throughout the summer to share their appreciation of plants and to learn. Perks include: tips from professional gardeners on plant choices; discounted plant purchase; first dibs on Home and Garden tickets and fun trips to gardens in surrounding communities.

THE BUTTERFLY GARDEN
The Butterfly Garden is the priority project of the Society. This welcoming garden, located on Lakeledge Road at the Sport Campus, offers a small sanctuary for our birds, our bees, and butterflies and our fellow friends. It provides a reference garden for all residents of Beech Mountain, by demonstrating which plants can grow and flourish on the mountain. With plantings of shrubs, herbs, and perennials & offering a whimsical children’s area, the garden is a delight to all who enter.

GARDEN & HOME TOUR
The annual Garden and Home Tour is a popular event for Beech Mountain Club members featuring interesting & outstanding homes and gardens in our community each year. With morning and afternoon tours, it offers a time for participants to socialize as they tour the locations and when both groups meet for lunch at the Club. The home tour never fails to impress. If you are not a Garden & herb Society member, remember to get your tickets early!
